We're Still Alive!

I'm not sure how many people check this blog regularly or anything, but I just want to let everyone know that we're STILL ALIVE!

Our typesetter/editor has been going through some personal problems as of late, so he unfortunately hasn't had time to work much on Chapter 3. We've finished the translation and cleaning and have even begun working on Chapter 4, but until he returns, we might or might not be able to release Chapter 3 soon. If you are interested in helping us out, PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY on the forums, IRC, email, whatever.

I've tried looking into typesetting myself, and if I have enough time, and Kang (our main typesetter) doesn't return any time soon, I might just double-role for a while.

EDIT (8/20/09 @ 6:00 PST): Our typesetter/editor is somewhat back and is currently working on Chapter 3. Expect a release soon, hopefully!

  1. I've been checking this blog every few days for the past few weeks.

I'm really stoked for this project and am relieved you're still working hard on Giant Robo.

Don't sweat a break of a few weeks. It's no biggie. This isn't a hundred meter sprint, it's a marathon. Just look at Kotonoha and mangascreener; they've by no means kept to a strict schedule through the years but they're 2 of the best scanlation groups out there.

I don't know if you've tried asking on the /m/ mecha board of 4chan if anyone would like to help edit and typeset, but they often scanlate mecha manga, for example King Gainer and various Go Nagai/Ken Ishikawa manga. You might need to make threads at several different times of day to make sure that everyone is aware since threads usually die after about 5 hours.

And of course mangahelpers has a forum orientated around recruiting scanlators where you have a high chance of finding someone who could help.

  2. Thanks for the response jamie, I really appreciate it. It's true that we don't necessarily have to rush through this project and can take our time, but I originally planned for a somewhat organized release schedule - oh well, can't have everything! At least we're still dedicated to the project.

I haven't asked /m/ for help yet, but I did make a release thread for chapters 1 and 2 when we released chapter 2. I don't really want to go out and start asking everywhere for help, but if it comes down to it, then we might be forced to. I wanted to keep the project more of a friends-thing, and if people wanted to help out, they could specifically come ask me--not the other way around.

Well, some good news! Our typesetter is somewhat back and he's working on chapter 3 as I type this up, so expect a release soon! He aims to finish "tomorrow at the latest".

(Speaking of King Gainer, we were actually interested in scanlating/continuing that originally but couldn't really find raws anywhere, and we all fail at using share. ;_;)
